In this week's episode of Sake Unplugged, Cindy and Giulia are welcoming yet another guest to the podcast, Makarim Salman or Mac in short, the man behind Kanpai Planet! And as the name already suggests Mac knows a thing or two about Japanese drinks. He has been relentlessly promoting Japanese beverages, creating high-quality content, and has dedicated himself to not just showcasing these drinks, but also the culture surrounding them, which of course includes sake. In the summer of 2021, he ventured out to Sado Island and spent a week making sake at Gakkogura, which is a brewery school program organized by Obata Shuzo. A unique experience open to anyone that would like to get some hands-on brewing experience. In fact, Cindy also joined them just the week before and with Giulias's recent stint in Shimane, they were excited to talk to him about it, especially as he just released a multi-part documentary series on how sake is made on his YouTube channel Kanpai Planet. With plenty of drink-related content, make sure to watch his series "Making sake on Sado". There are currently 2 episodes out, with the rest of them being released over the next few weeks, but there is plenty of other content out there and if you want to keep up with Mac follow him on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter!
This is a weekly podcast so make sure to subscribe and tune in every Thursday and follow Sake Unplugged on Instagram and Facebook for updates and shenanigans, or if you are looking for additional information visit www.sakeunplugged.com
The next episode will be aired on the 17th of March and will be about sake labels, what they tell you and what not, so make sure to mark this on your calendar.
Until then, have a nice sake!
